Top Ten Tuesday: Chris’ Top Seven Places to Rest Your Soul
In the spirit of Arfink’s Top Ten Tuesday last week, I thought I would do something similar. Here are my Top Seven Places to Rest Your Soul.
7. St. Mary’s Adoration Chapel, London, ON.
This place is perfect for prayer. It is also architecturally beautiful for a basement Eucharistic Adoration Chapel. Definitely worth the visit.
6. The Portiuncula Chapel, Steubenville OH
Not only can you receive a Plenary Indulgence from visiting this place at particular times through out the year, but during the school year it has Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration 24/7. Jesus is truly loved in this chapel by young hearts.
5. St. Patrick’s Basilica, Ottawa, ON
This is another beautiful place to visit in the Great White North. This is one of the few Novus Ordo Parishes that still use altar rails in Canada, and they have confession all the way up to the Gospel. The architecture is also quite astounding.
4. St. Patrick’s Church, Kinkora ON
Home to the most beautiful parish in the Diocese of London (in my opinion), this place is a treasure hidden in a field. Literally. I have see Jesus truly loved in this place, and it is definitely one of the hotspots of holiness in my Diocese.
3. Basilica of Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré, Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré, QC
This basilica is gorgeous and filled with rich Catholic Canadian history; a patrimony forgotten in much of Quebec, however the Basilica still stands as testimony to its beautiful past. Walls of crutches testifying to the numerous healings that happened there. This is a great place to pray and spend time away. Definitely the best looking Basilica in Canada, bar none.
2. Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, Washington DC
This place hold a very special place in my heart. It is the place where I prayed for my vocation. It was also the place where I asked my best friend to be my wife. This is a glorious place and the sixth biggest Basilica in the world. It has two bookstores and is just a glorious place to be. Definitely visit this place and be prepared to spend a lot of time.
1. Our Lady of Victory National Shrine and Basilica, Lackawana NY
Built using the pennies, nickles, and dimes of parishioners, Venerable Father Baker built this gorgeous basilica. One can spend days in there and never truly take it all in. It is a little piece of heaven on earth. Definitely worth my number one in spades!
