The Catholic Gamer: Christ the King Statue in Minecraft SMP
Hey everyone! Welcome to The Catholic Gamer, a new series about our exploits in the world of gaming – videos, reviews, commentary, or just sharing how we put our particular Catholic spin on the games we play.
For the first post in this series, I thought I would put together a something super-Catholic on the Minecraft server I (and quite a few Team Orthodoxy writers) play on. And if it comes down to it, who’s more Catholic than Jesus? Nobody.
I based my build on the statue of Christ the King in Świebodzin, Poland, the tallest statue of Jesus in the world.
A note for those who have played Minecraft before. This build was done entirely in SMP (survival multi-player), so I harvested all the materials for it (those poor sheep), and did everything without flying, and being vulnerable to death by falling and monsters. It’s a matter of personal preference, but I’ve always liked Minecraft in survival mode. Sure, you can build way bigger and more majestic things in creative (and you’ll probably see some from Steve and Chris in the future), but I like to build and adventure in the same world – it feels more exciting to me.
Below are some screenshots of the process of building, and the final product. Click any of the images for a larger version.
That’s it! Hope you enjoyed the first post in The Catholic Gamer. Look forward to more episodes in the future!
If you’ve got any awesome Minecraft builds, or if you’d like to see more content like this, let us know in the comments.
God bless, and watch for creepers.
