Web Find Wednesday – Open the Gates!

Hey there, welcome to the most exciting Web Find Wednesday of all time! Now, I’m not joking… I actually think this is the best Web Find Wednesday. Some of you, maybe all of you, may not know it, but this is the day Extol rose from the dead. Extol is a band Chris and I grew up on… one of the pioneers of Christian metal in the 90s, that brought a much-needed dose of the gospel into music scenes that were as dark as death. Now, they’re back after a five-year absence and releasing a new album. You can still hear the old Extol, but as always, they’ve switched up their style, adding a hint of metalcore riffing, and clean vocal sections reminiscent of 70s prog-rock legends Yes. Check out their new song below!

P.S. If metal’s not your thing, skip on down to the funny stuff below 😉

Hipsters. Nuff’ said 😀

I laughed way too hard at this set of photos… people are just so… interesting.

  1. DUUUUUDE!!!!! EXTOL ROCKS!!! \M/ \M/
I grew up listening to alot of christian rock/metal. Some of my favorites were (and still are) Deliverance, Tourniquet, Barren Cross, and Holy Soldier. Those were the seeds that brought me where I am today. Most EXCELLENT GNARLY POST EVER!!!

Thanks, man! I’m glad people appreciated the Extol song, because I’m super excited about it.

  2. What I really want to see in the music scene is a Catholic Viking/folk metal band on par with Tyr (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZdO3qheFrxs) or Heidevolk (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=55ls_ydHstU). The Saga of St. Olaf would make a great metal song.
