Advent Challenge – Day 6 – Daily Meditation

Alright, enough with the kids, this one’s for the adults!

Advent is all about preparing our hearts to receive Christ, and what better way to prepare our hearts than praying daily!  Many parishes hand out booklets with meditations to reflect on and pray about while lighting your Advent wreath.

I’ve had mixed success with some of these booklets, sometimes they’re amazing, sometimes they’re mediocre, and sometimes they’re so bad you want to pry your eyeballs out with a fork.

If you didn’t manage to pick up a booklet, or the one your parish provided leaves something to be desired, never fear!  This is my go to book for both Lent and Advent.

It’s actually a four part series that follows the entire liturgical year, but I’ve found the Advent meditations especially poignant.  It coordinates with the daily Mass readings, including for the specific liturgical year, and the reflections are just beautiful.  It doesn’t hurt that it was also written by a pretty amazing Carmelite either.

And the best part?  You don’t even have to go out and buy the book, because you can preview it for FREE on Google Books.

You’re welcome.
