Advent Challenge – Day One – Advent Wreath
As it’s the First Sunday of Advent, we did a fair bit today. The kids helped me decorate the house and I brought up the Advent wreath. I picked up this beautiful Advent wreath the year I was first married. I stopped by Michael’s Craft Store to pick up some supplies to make my own wreath, but since it was already the Monday of the First Week of Advent, they had a whole bunch of beautiful pre-made wreaths at reduced cost. I got this for about $12, knocked down from $60! The only downside is I can’t find candles the right shade of Advent purple, so you’ll have to look past my liturgically incorrect lilac candles.
After supper we lit the first candle while saying “Come, Baby Jesus!”. We got an Advent booklet for families at our parish this morning, so we followed along with a short prayer from that. My daughter pretty much ran around in circles, but my son excitedly prayed with us, and even more excitedly blew out the candle! In his words “Now it’s Christmas!”
And that’s it!
How did you celebrate the beginning of the Advent season?
